Yoga Training and Experience

I am a 500-RYT born and raised in New York City. My teaching style is heavily influenced by the alignment and precision of Iyengar yoga and the breath and flow of ashtanga yoga. IMG_2251.jpg

I discovered yoga when I was 16, and was frankly not all that impressed. I found it too challenging for my tight body, and didn’t understand why my body wouldn’t respond the way I asked it to. However, something about the peace of mind the practice gave me, as well as the intense physical challenge of the asana, kept me coming back, however grudgingly.

After training for and competing in triathlons for a number of years, my coach suggested I add yoga as a way to balance the competitive spirit of racing, as well as to stretch and release tension. After studio hopping for months, searching for the right teacher, I began studying in Los Angeles with Jennifer Pastiloff, whose humor and freewheeling spirituality showed me the potential for a yoga that could change lives, create extraordinary growth, and make you laugh – all in an hour and a half.

When I moved to New York, I began studying with Chrissy Carter and my perception of yoga changed once again. With Chrissy, I discovered the beauty of focused alignment, the integration of anatomy into the practice, and that you could combine all of these elements with humor, grace and self-acceptance.

I stills study with Chrissy, as well as with Carrie Owerko, Julie Marx, Jenny Aurthur, and Jennie Cohen. I am studying anatomy with Jason Ray Brown, and have had the privilege to learn from such luminaries as Dana Flynn, Jasmine Tarkeshi and Cyndi Lee.

I practice yoga as a way to connect to my heart and soul, to learn more about who I am on a cellular level, and above all, to play, experience joy, and laugh at myself. I teach as an extension of my practice, and welcome anyone with any type of body or level of experience to my classes.

I currently teaches at Shri Yoga and Fusion Hot Yoga in Brisbane, Australia. Please check my calendar for upcoming class dates.
