It’s been an amazing year. Between traveling 95,687 miles to 35 destinations, moving to Australia, getting a dog, and one final joy (to be announced at the bottom of the post!) it’s been amazing.
Here are my top five from the year.
1. Took two months and backpacked around Europe…with two extra suitcases.
Between amazing sights, incredible meals, great wine, and of course, time together, Anthony and I had an extraordinary time visiting Greece, Spain, Italy, Israel, France and Holland. We got to see old friends and family, make tons of new ones, and have insane adventures.
2. Moved to Australia

After our two month trip, we picked up and moved from New York, to Brisbane. While it hasn’t always been easy, the experience has been incredible. Getting to know Anthony’s amazing family, seeing Sydney and the Great Barrier reef, making some of my new dearest friends, and getting to know a new city has been one of the most extraordinary experiences of my life to date.
3. Adopted a Dog

So many people told us we were crazy for getting a dog. We travel too much, we are not sure of our future living plans, it’s too much responsibility for our lifestyle, etc. However, no body says that now, as Chewie has become such an intrinsic part of our family. Funny, sweet, gentle, ridiculous, often crazy and always wonderful, I can’t imagine life without our Chewy.
4.My family visited me in Australia

When I was particularly struggling with adapting to Australia, my mom and aunt came to the rescue and spent two weeks here. Not only did we have an amazing time, but that was really the turnaround point for me. I started feeling more comfortable in Australia, partly because with them I got to see more of the country, and partly because I suddenly understood that. while far away, my family really only was a plane ride away. It was some of the most fun I’ve ever had. and we made amazing memories of Sydney, Cairns, the Great Barrier reef, and even our hometown of Brisbane.
5. The best of all…

I’m getting married to the love of my life!!! He proposed while we were in New York, shocking me to death. I can’t wait to write a post with the story, but this was definitely the highlight of my year.
